Effective date: September 24, 2026
This notice covers custom API mode in Amber and Amber Demo, where available.
Amber sends AI requests directly to the endpoint you configure. These requests and responses do not pass through our servers. Any API key you provide is used to authenticate requests to that endpoint. Saved API keys are kept only on your computer and are excluded from Steam Cloud synchronization.
Requests may contain your messages, relevant conversation history and memories, interaction events, local time, and screenshots when enabled. They may be sent to generate replies, update memories, or provide proactive interactions. Voice recognition runs locally; transcribed text and descriptions of audio content may be included, but original audio and voiceprint data stay on your computer.
You can change optional input permissions in Amber's settings. Turning an input off stops new collection through it; information already in your history or memories may still be included in requests.
We do not control your chosen provider's retention, training, or other data practices. Review its policies and settings, and contact it about data it holds. Amber's hosted AI service commitments on zero data retention and no training do not extend to custom API providers.
Conversation history and memories are saved on your computer. Client logs also remain local unless you choose to send them to us. Where Steam Cloud is available and enabled, Steam stores and synchronizes your saves, including conversations and memories, under its Privacy Policy.
You can delete saves from your computer and control Steam Cloud synchronization in Steam. Turning synchronization off does not delete existing Steam Cloud copies. Deleting local saves does not itself delete data held by your API provider.
