Amber is operated by Shanghai CosmosRaven Network Technology Co., Ltd, based in China ("we", "us"). This policy covers the full version of Amber and, separately, support and privacy correspondence you choose to send us about it. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].
Amber saves conversation history, memories, and settings on your computer. If Steam Cloud synchronization is available and enabled, Steam also stores copies of these saves, as explained below.
When you use Amber's hosted AI service, its AI features send the content needed to generate replies, maintain memories, and provide proactive interactions to our servers and AI service providers. This may include your messages, relevant history and memories, interaction events, and local time. Our providers are identified in the list linked below. Direct connections to an API you configure are described in the separate Amber Custom API Privacy Notice.
Our hosted AI processing uses zero data retention (ZDR). Neither we nor our AI service providers persist your AI inputs or outputs in cloud storage or use them to train models. Content is processed temporarily to provide the requested AI features and is not retained after processing. This commitment applies to our hosted AI processing; Steam Cloud saves and information you choose to email us are handled separately below. It does not extend to custom API providers.
Depending on the features available in your version and your settings:
You can change these permissions in Amber's settings. Turning a feature off stops new collection through that feature. Earlier information may remain in your saved conversations or memories and may still be used as AI context.
We use Steam to verify your account and purchases. Our persistent account records use a pseudonymous identifier derived from your Steam ID rather than the Steam ID itself.
We keep the records needed to provide and protect the service:
Amber's client logs remain on your computer. The client has no feature that uploads logs, crash reports, or usage analytics to us. We receive diagnostic files only if you choose to send them to us, for example by email.
Where Steam Cloud support is available and synchronization is enabled, Steam stores copies of your Amber saves, including conversations and memories, on its servers and synchronizes them between your devices. These copies are separate from our AI processing and are not covered by its ZDR commitment.
You can turn synchronization off in Amber's properties in Steam or in Steam's global Cloud settings. Turning synchronization off does not itself delete copies already stored by Steam. Steam account, payment, and Cloud data are handled under the Steam Privacy Policy.
You can request deletion by contacting us. We will explain any information we retain and why when responding to your request. Any retention is subject to applicable law.
Our providers may process information outside your country. Their identities, roles, and international processing arrangements are described in Service Providers and International Processing, which forms part of this policy.
We share information only as needed for the purposes in this policy or as required by law. We use encryption for communications over public networks and restrict access to service records.
We process information to provide the service you request, meet legal obligations, and, where applicable law permits, pursue our legitimate interests in security, troubleshooting, and preventing abuse. Where processing requires consent, you can withdraw that consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a portable copy of your personal information, restrict or object to processing, and complain to your local data protection authority. Contact [email protected] to exercise these rights. We may need to verify that the relevant Steam account belongs to you.
Because we do not retain your AI interaction content, we cannot retrieve your conversation history or memories from our servers.
Amber is for users aged 16 or older, or any higher minimum age required by local law. If you believe someone below the applicable minimum age has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can address it and delete information as required by law.
We may update this policy and its effective date. Where required by law, we will give notice of changes and obtain any necessary consent before they take effect.
